Rajkummar Rao (left) and the clapperboard of ‘Dada’ (right) | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Actor Rajkummar Rao has started shooting for Dada, the biopic on the life of cricketing legend Saurav Ganguly, the makers announced on Wednesday (April 2, 2026). The film is being helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankuar Garg under Luv Films. The makers shared a photo of the clapperboard on social media to make the announcement. “Lights, Camera, Cricket! ‘Dada’ Filming Begins Now,” wrote Luv Films in caption. Motwane also shared a photo of the Sourav Ganguly stand from Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata on social media and wrote in caption, “Take your seats.” The film is being shot by Siddhart Diwan, known for serving as the cinematographer for movies like, Trapped, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and Qala, among others. More details about the plot and other cast members from the film are awaited. Ganguly played for the Indian cricket team from 1992 to 2008 and scored 18,575 runs in Test and ODIs, having a total of 38 centuries to his credit. Meanwhile, Rajkummar will be seen next in the dark comedy, Toaster, alongside Sanya Malhotra. The film will be released on Netflix on April 15, 2026.
