The event was aimed at strengthening efforts ahead of the upcoming cleanliness rankings under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 initiative. Officials emphasised the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness and improving the city’s chances in the annual cleanliness survey. Mysuru was, in the past, the country’s ‘cleanest city’. However, its rankings dipped for various reasons, and the MCC has now focused its attention on improving the city’s ranking by engaging residents in achieving the goal. The cyclothon, held under the theme ‘Do Cycling Today; Build Better Tomorrow’, was flagged off by MCC Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif near the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple outside the Mysore Palace. A large number of cyclists participated, expressing support for the MCC’s efforts. The rally route passed through key city landmarks, including K.R. Circle, Highway Circle, and the JSS Medical College Circle, before concluding at the starting point. Participants who completed the designated distance were awarded medals in recognition of their involvement and commitment to the cause.
