CPI(M) State committee member and former district secretary E.N. Mohandas, 74, died on Wednesday. He died at EMS Memorial Cooperative Hospital, Perinthalmanna, where he was under treatment for stroke-related ailments. Mr. Mohandas spent his life for the party since his retirement as headmaster of AUP School, Mannazhi. He held the district secretary’s post for two terms in a row. He was the founding manager of Desabhimani’s Malappuram edition, and secretary of EMS Study and Research Centre, Malappuram. He was president of Kodur Service Cooperative Bank for several years. His body was kept at Municipal Town Hall here, where people from different walks of life paid him tributes. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan were among those who offered condolences. As per his will, his body was donated to Government Medical College, Manjeri, to serve the cause of medical education. He is survived by wife Geeta.
