The Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Gujjula Eswaraiah on Sunday (March 29, 2026) criticised the alleged apathy of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments over the long-pending issue of Home Guard transfers, urging both the Chief Ministers to act without further delay. In a statement on Sunday, Mr. Eswaraiah expressed concern over the continued neglect of around 200 Home Guards appointed during the united Andhra Pradesh era, who are yet to be transferred to their respective native States. He said repeated appeals to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, and senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and DGP, have yielded no results. He also noted that similar representations made earlier to former Chief Ministers Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and K. Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana) went unaddressed. According to Mr. Eswaraiah, many Andhra Pradesh-origin Home Guards have been serving in Telangana for nearly 15 years under difficult conditions, receiving meagre daily wages and staying away from their families. Due to local status issues, they are being treated as non-locals in Telangana, losing out on job opportunities, including constable recruitment benefits. He further pointed out that these personnel are being deprived of welfare schemes, including ration cards, housing benefits, and educational support for their children in both the States. Calling for a practical solution, he suggested a mutual transfer of around 200 Home Guards each between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, stating that such a move would not impose any financial burden on the governments. Mr. Eswaraiah questioned why governments that claim to promote advanced governance and technology-driven administration are unable to resolve such a basic human issue, and urged immediate action to ensure justice for the affected personnel.
