The Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Gujjula Eswaraiah wrote a letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, seeking strict action against those responsible for the destruction of natural sea gateway and dunes in Bapatla district. In his letter dated Thursday, Mr. Eswaraiah highlighted that the ‘L’-shaped sea gateway was completely demolished and called for its full restoration. “Construction company Sri Bhramara Infra was carrying out the demolition under the pretext of tourism development. The National Human Rights Commission, the Bapatla District Collector, and Andhra Pradesh Coastal Zone Management Authorities had issued instructions for corrective action. Despite this, officials were reportedly slow to respond, he pointed out. Mr. Eswaraiah further warned that the destruction has disrupted the livelihoods of around 2,000 fishing families across 10 villages, making life nearly impossible for local communities. He also demanded action against Revenue officials who allegedly created fraudulent records in Survey Number 492-2 under Burl Venkatarau’s name, covering 3.42 cents. The CPI leader urged immediate measures against Sri Bhramara Infra and called for accountability from all parties involved in the coastal destruction.
