The Cochin Port Authority (CPA) has proposed developing marine tourism at Puthuvype beach to tap the tourism potential of its real estate. The port has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from developers, investors, hospitality operators and marine tourism operators to develop marine tourism-related activities on 35 acres owned by the port at the beach on a long-term lease basis.

The proposed concept aims to promote sustainable beach and marine tourism, enhance coastal infrastructure, generate revenue through lease rent, create employment opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth, while ensuring environmental sustainability, according to the invitation.

The CPA expects proposals for projects such as beach resorts, eco-resorts, waterfront hospitality infrastructure, recreational facilities, water sports infrastructure, wellness tourism, cultural spaces, tourism-supporting amenities and other permissible coastal tourism activities. “The exact nature and scale of development will be finalised at a later stage after evaluating the responses to this EOI,” the document said. The project must strictly comply with applicable statutory regulations, including Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and environmental laws, it said.

The land parcel on offer extends about 1.5 km along the seashore, with a width of around 75-125 metres. The deadline for submitting EoIs is 3 p.m. on April 8, 2026. The EoIs will be opened at 3.30 p.m. the same day.
