Corporation status fuels Karaikudi’s demand for new district

The Assembly Constituency with the highest number of voters in the Sivaganga district – Karaikudi – which has received a significant number of developmental works in the last five years has undergone a major transformation into an educational hub for southern Tamil Nadu.  

As of the 2026 electoral rolls, Karaikudi remains the largest constituency in the district with approximately 3,21,068 voters, followed by Sivaganga and Tirupathur. The constituency is currently represented by S. Mangudi of the Indian National Congress (INC).
