For decades, women in the informal economy have been the backbone of their families, their communities, and local economies, yet, their contributions have too often remained invisible, Andreas Kappes, secretary general, International Raiffeisen Union (IRU), Germany said.

He was speaking at an event ‘From the Margins to the Mainstream: Women’s Economic Empowerment through Cooperatives for Access to International High Tables-Working Women’s Forum (India) (WWF)-Indian Cooperative Network for Women (ICNW)’, which is a virtual parallel event to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women 70th Edition (UNCSW70).
