Claiming that the proposed India–U.S. trade deal is detrimental to the welfare of Indian farmers, members of the Erode Urban District Congress Committee staged a demonstration here on Thursday (February 26, 2026), blaming the BJP-led Union government. Led by district president P. Rajesh Rajappa, the protesters raised slogans describing the deal as a betrayal to Indian farmers and citizens. They also accused the Union government of attempting to push the country back into economic subjugation.
