Congress MP from Bhongir Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday flayed the remarks made by fellow MP from Andhra Pradesh Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu on the formation of Telangana State. The Bhongir MP speaking in response to comments made during the discussion on a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha presided over by Speaker Om Birla, objected to Devarayalu’s criticism of the process through which the Telangana Statehood Bill was passed in the Parliament. The TDP leader reportedly described February 14, 2014, as a “black day” and alleged that the Telangana Bill was passed after closing the doors of the Lok Sabha. The TDP MP faulted the then Speaker Meira Kumar for clearing the legislation. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy asserted that the Telangana Statehood Bill was passed constitutionally in the Lok Sabha. He questioned whether Devarayalu was unaware that TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had extended written support for the formation of Telangana at the time.
