Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar has strongly countered the charges levelled by BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao on the issue of dismissal of the disqualification petitions against two MLAs by the Speaker on Wednesday.

Accusing the BRS leader of hypocrisy and weak leadership, Mr. Dayakar alleged that the culture of defections in Telangana was first introduced by former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and not Congress. “Without even knowing your own stature, you are speaking against Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

He challenged Mr. Rama Rao’s authority, questioning: “Do you have the guts to call 10 MLAs? You inducted defected MLAs and even made them ministers. Ten MLAs left because they disliked your leadership.”

He further claimed that bitter one upmanship between former Minister T. Harish Rao and Mr. Rama Rao were driving leaders away from the party. “No one will stay in a party without leadership or trust,” he added.

Mr. Dayakar concluded by stressing that opposition parties must respond to people’s problems, not indulge in false political propaganda.
