The Kannur District Congress Committee (DCC) expelled former Minority Congress district president K.R. Abdul Khader from the primary membership of the party after he told the media that Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph had orchestrated a conspiracy against senior Congress leader K. Sudhakaran. In a press statement, DCC president Martin George clarified that Mr. Khader has no association with the Congress or its feeder organisations. Mr. George said that while some individuals who faced disciplinary action during the local body elections were reinstated ahead of the Assembly polls, Mr. Khader was not among those readmitted. He added that any activities carried out by by Mr. Khader in the name of the party were unauthorised and bore no connection with the Congress.
