Former Minister for irrigation and senior leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) T. Harish Rao alleged that the Revanth Reddy government’s plan to cooperate with the illegal project of Andhra Pradesh, Polavaram-Nallamalasagar Link Project (PNLP), stands exposed with the Supreme Court holding the writ petition filed by Telangana as non-maintainable.

In a statement Mr. Harish Rao said on Monday that the Congress had helped A.P. government secure a stay against Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) in the past by getting a writ filed in the name of farmers, now the government of the same party had filed a non-maintainable petition wilfully. He sought to know whether the counsel appearing for Telangana Abhishek Singhvi was not aware of the fate of such a petition.

It was a historical betrayal of Telangana by Mr. Revanth Reddy by surrendering the river water rights to A.P. Withdrawal of writ petition and filing a civil suit would mean nothing but giving time to A.P. to go ahead with PNLP. Hearing the arguments of Maharashtra and Karnataka along with those of A.P. and Telangana would be a never ending saga that could prolong for decades.

The BRS leader termed the decision to file a civil suit a Sankranti gift of Mr. Revanth Reddy to his political mentor and A.P. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He alleged that Mr. Revanth Reddy had attended a meeting in New Delhi and refused to do so repeatedly and discussed PNLP/PBLP stating that it was not in the agenda.

Later, he signed an agreement to be part of the committee on the project. Now, he had moved the Supreme Court after the last date for filing tenders. It was nothing but indirectly agreeing for PNLP.

He sought to know whether there was any project of Telangana on Godavari and Krishna that was not opposed by A.P. despite the false claims of Mr. Naidu that he had not opposed any project of Telangana.

Another former Minister G. Jagadish Reddy too alleged that the non-maintainable plea on PNLP was a Sankranti gift to Mr. Naidu from Mr. Revanth Reddy.
