PARVATIPURAM: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra on Monday said that the State government is giving top priority for the completion of Jhanjavati irrigation project which will bring relief to farmers of Parvatipuram-Manyam district. He attended as chief guest the Sankranti celebrations and said that the festival reminds everyone about the hard work and sacrifices of the farmers’. Speaking to media, he said: “In the last week of August 2025, I met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and sought his cooperation in regards to land acquisition to be taken up in Odisha’s jurisidiction.” Mr. Vijaya Chandra expressed hope that the irrigation officials from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha would soon bring out an action plan for the early completion of the project. The MLA who was accompanied by his wife Anusha, gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions organised during the ‘Bhogi’ and Sankranti celebrations. He urged the youth to protect Indian culture and traditions by actively taking participating in festivals.
