Complaint received against former corporator for remarks against Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

A complaint was filed against former corporator of Saroornagar division, Akula Srivani of the Bharatiya Janata Party, at the Mirchowk police station for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Shia cleric and former Iran leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The complainant, Azmathullah Jaffery, founder and president of the Telangana Shia Youth Welfare Association, alleged that Srivani shared a video on Facebook in which she made false allegations against the cleric.

He further alleged that she also made remarks against Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is the party’s floor leader in the Telangana Assembly, as well as members of the local community after banners condemning the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were erected in Darulshifa and other parts of the city.

The Mirchowk police acknowledged receiving the complaint and said they are seeking legal opinion. A case is yet to be booked in this regard.
