Collectors conduct inspection of polling stations in Kanniyakumari and Thoothukudi

Thoothukudi Collector and District Election Officer K. Elambahavath inspected polling stations across Srivaikuntam and Tiruchendur constituency on Saturday.

Following the announcement of upcoming assembly elections for Tamil Nadu by the Election Commission of India, election preparedness work has been progressing at full swing in Thoothukudi. The general, expenditure and police observers deployed for Thoothukudi district also monitor the election arrangements in the district. In addition 24×7 control control has been established in Thoothukudi district, and is functioning.

Ahead of the polls, he has inspected polling stations in Tiruchendur constituency, which includes Government Higher Secondary School in Athur, K.A. Higher Secondary School in Peyanvilai, Government Middle School in Kayalpattinam and St. Thomas Higher Secondary School in Veerapandiyapattinam.

He also inspected the security arrangements at the Tiruchendur union office, which has been designated to house emergency voting machines.

The Collector inspected the polling stations in Srivaikuntam constituency. Subsequently he reviewed the vehicle check up conducted by the flying squad team at the Pannamparai junction.

In Kanniyakumari district, District Collector and District Election officer R. Alagumeena inspected the election preparedness work at the sub collector office in Padmanabhapuram.

The election officer of the Padmanabhapuram constituency was instructed to ensure the basic amenities, including drinking water, ramp facility and electricity, are available at polling stations under the constituency. Adequate security arrangements were also for rooms where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail VVPAT machines are stored.
