CHENNAI: Collaboration is important for optometrists to succeed, as the number of cases of diabetes and the growing geriatric population poses new challenges, , said R.Krishna Kumar, president of Ophthalmic Science Professional Council.

Speaking to students at a meeting organised in ESIC Medical College Hospital to commemorate World Optometry Day, he said: “The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, 2021, was signed by the President after being passed in the Parliament. It is no longer allied health science, it is allied and health science profession. That is a big transformation by itself .”
