Coimbatore Corporation has proposed to establish traffic islands at major road junctions across the city at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore, with funding support from the government and private partners.

Corporation officials said the traffic islands would be developed with greenery and statues, with the objective of improving road safety and contributing to urban design. They said a study of traffic patterns, including trial runs in coordination with the police department, would be conducted before the construction of the traffic islands is taken up.
