Siva Saravanan The Coimbatore Corporation has initiated a pilot project to design safer streets around schools and colleges through tactical urban design interventions that can be implemented quickly and at relatively low cost. As part of the pilot, a tactical street design has been implemented on VKK Menon Road in the Central Zone. The pilot covers a 200-metre stretch and serves two nearby schools — the Corporation Higher Secondary School and the Corporation Elementary School — with a combined student strength of around 530. The initiative focuses on temporary, quick-build street design.
