The Indian Coast Guard rescued six crew members of a mechanised fishing boat after it drifted nearly 300 kilometers into the deep sea. The boat and its entire crew was safely brought ashore at Visakhapatnam at 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

The vessel, identified as ‘MM-108’ belonging to B. Raju of Visakhapatnam, had originally set sail from the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour on March 5, as part of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Deep Sea Fishing Project. The mission turned critical on March 12 when the boat suffered total engine failure.
