Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested the Central Government to take up development of Krishna – Vikarabad railway line with Central funds. The State Government on its part has assured to bear the entire costs pertaining to acquisition of land for the new line. The State Government has identified limestone reserves in the areas abutting the proposed line and has resolved to develop the area as a hub for cement and textile hub. The Chief Minister called on Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Thursday. He told the Minister that the Krishna region lay close to several cement industries in the neighbouring Karnataka and it was accordingly proposed to develop areas including Kodangal, Daultabad and Tekalkod under his native Kodangal constituency as industrial hubs. Referring to the high speed corridors proposed in the Union Budget, he said the Telangana Government was prepared to provide 500 acre land near Shamshabad for development as hub of the high speed corridors. The Centre announced its intentions to develop Hyderabad -Chennai (778 km), Hyderabad – Bengaluru (596 km) and Hyderabad – Pune (556 km) high speed corridors recently. He suggested that the Centre locate the originating point of these high speed trains at Shamshabad. Since the Hyderabad – Chennai corridor would pass through Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati, the Railway Ministry should consider sanctioning railway line connecting Amaravati and Machilipatnam so that movement of goods from the dry port being established in Telangana to Machilipatnam port could be faster. Explaining that Shamshabad would turn as a trijunction if the originating point of high speed trains was set up there, Mr. Revanth Reddy requested Mr. Vaishnaw to take up land acquisition works pertaining to the project at the earliest. The Union Minister responded positively to the suggestions made by the Chief Minister.
