Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the renovation works worth ₹300 crore, taken up at the historic Sammakka Saralamma shrine in Medaram, on January 19.

Nearly 95% of the modernisation works on the Sammakka Saralamma Gaddelu (sacred platforms) had been completed, he said while speaking at a review meeting in Hanamkonda on Wednesday.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D. Anasuya (Seethakka), Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy and others were present.

Mr. Srinivas Reddy, who is the in-charge minister of the erstwhile Warangal district, reviewed the status of various ongoing development works in 12 Assembly constituencies in the old undivided Warangal district.

He said that the permanent works such as stone-built structures had been taken up at Medaram to last for nearly 200 years. Listing out various other ongoing development works including widening of roads and improvement of pilgrim amenities at Medaram, he said elaborate arrangements have been made for the Sammakka-Sarakka Maha Jatara to be held from January 28-31.

The Minister said that the Chief Minister sanctioned ₹4,000 crore for taking up a host of development works, including construction of stormwater drains in flood-prone core urban areas in Warangal. Tenders will be invited for ₹570-crore worth development works in a week and tenders will also be called for augmenting drinking water supply in the city.

He instructed officials to take up measures for construction of houses on the lines of Kukatpalli Housing Board in Warangal for lower middle class sections in addition to the already sanctioned Indiramma houses and 2BHK houses.

He further asked the officials to speed up the works for development of Mada Streets surrounding Bhadrakali temple. Work on the 24-storey state-of-the-art multi super-specialty hospital building taken up at an estimated cost of ₹1,100 crore will be completed by April. The CM will be invited to inaugurate the facility, he said.
