Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (February 7, 2026) paid tributes to Tamil scholar Devaneya Paavanar, who is fondly referred to as ‘Mozhi Gnayiru,’ on his birth anniversary. In a post on X, Mr. Stalin recalled the words of Pavanar, who said “Parithimar Kalaignar sowed the seeds for the Pure Tamil movement. Maraimalai Adigal helped the movement to grow like a plant. I am the one nurturing it into a tree.” The Chief Minister also said Pavanar devoted his life to the pure Tamil lexicon project called ‘Agara Mudhali Thittam’ and worked tirelessly to preserve the uniqueness of Tamil language.
