BioAsia 2026, the latest in the annual series of Asia’s premier Life Sciences and health tech forum, got under way here on Tuesday with Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy pitching for more investments on the back of Hyderabad’s trusted, stable and future-ready ecosystem.

Hyderabad has the potential to rise from being the global vaccine capital to global life sciences capital. “From bulk drugs to biologics, from manufacturing to innovation, from India to the world, Telangana is moving up the value chain,” the Chief Minister asserted, adding the State attracted ₹73,000 crore investments in Life Sciences over the last two years.

A strong vision and clear policy of the government, availability of highly qualified human resources, great educational institutions, are behind Hyderabad emerging as a global hub for global capability centres with excellence in research and design, said Mr.Revanth Reddy, inaugurating the two-day event.

Listing some of the recent facilitating measures his government had initiated, he said “we unveiled our new Life Sciences policy at Davos [last month]… expanded Genome Valley [Life Sciences cluster] and launched the 1Bio for world-class research and innovation.”

Hyderabad is the preferred destination for firms to set up GCCs, build innovation engines, design molecules and drugs, manage your clinical analytics, build AI platforms and drive digital manufacturing. He also highlighted the presence of major thought and business leaders in pharma, bio-sciences, bio-tech, bulk drugs, vaccines and healthcare in Hyderabad.

Stating that BioAsia, going by its growing popularity, deserves recognition on a par with the World Economic Forum that is organised annually in Davos, the Chief Minister said, “We are not competing only within India, we are competing with the global clusters. Hyderabad has become the world’s preferred destination for the GCC. I welcome you to invest here, establish your GCCs, build innovation engines, design molecules and drugs, manage your clinical analytics, build AI platforms and drive digital manufacturing.”

He also shared the Telangana Rising Vision of making the State a $1-billion economy by 2034 and a $3-billion economy by 2047.

The Chief Minister presented the Genome Valley Excellence Award to Bruce Levine, Barbara and Edward Netter Professor in Cancer Gene Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine for his contributions to cell and gene therapy, engineered T cells and cancer immunotherapy.
