Revanth Reddy’s announcement to release one Dearness Allowance (DA) to the State government employees as a decision taken out of ‘compulsion’, ‘not out of concern’. Mr. Sanjay on Monday virtually launched the BJP’s election campaign for the upcoming municipal elections in the textile town of Sircilla. Addressing a meeting held on the occasion, he said five DAs are already unpaid. Taking the current month into account, as many as six DAs are pending — a clear sign of a financial crisis in the State. He warned that if employees approach the courts, the government will be forced to clear all dues. “Knowing this, they released just one DA to escape legal trouble, not because they care about employees,” he said. He said the Central government provided ₹30 crore for roads and infrastructure under the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions and ₹104 crore under the AMRUT scheme to the Sircilla municipality. “What happened to that money? Did the Congress government contribute a single rupee in two years?”, he asked. He took a swipe at the BRS saying the party is neither in power at the Centre nor in the State. It failed to win even a single Lok Sabha seat in the last general elections. A vote for BRS is a wasted vote, he said. The BJP will win the Mayor’s posts of both Hyderabad and Karimnagar municipal corporations and also bag the posts of chairpersons of several municipalities, including Sircilla and Vemulawada, he said.
