Chikkadpally-Domalguda bridge over Hussain Sagar nala inaugurated

The 48.2 metres long link bridge between Chikkadpally and Domalguda was inaugurated by Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday (January 2, 2026). Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) built this over Hussain Sagar surplus nala, at a cost of ₹6 crore.

The travel time from Chikkadpally to Ashok Nagar and Domalguda — and further towards Liberty Junction, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Head Office and the Secretariat — is expected to be reduced by nearly half, as per a press note. The project cost is ₹6 crore. 

Speaking after inaugurating the bridge, Mr. Prabhakar said that following the merger of municipalities within and around the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Greater Hyderabad has grown into the largest city in the country in terms of both area and population. 

“In a city of this magnitude, infrastructure such as roads, stormwater drains, street lighting, parks and other civic amenities must grow in proportion to the population. The Chief Minister is moving forward with comprehensive plans to address these needs,” he said.
