State Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand on Tuesday inaugurated a slew of new infrastructural facilities at S. Uppalapadu village of Jammalamadugu constituency in Kadapa district. The village hogged the limelight when the official adopted it in 2018 and roped in a Non-Resident Indian M. Rammanohar Reddy, who also hails from the village, to support the initiative.

Mr. Vijayanand inaugurated the new facilities, along with the then Kadapa Collector Ch. Hari Kiran, who is currently the Director (Prohibition and Excise), Government of Telangana.

The facilities include a community cum dining hall worth ₹75 lakh funded by Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Private Corporation, community hall worth ₹86 lakh under the CSR funds of A.P. Transco, 20 cement and BT roads worth ₹5 crore through the Panchayat Raj and PR Engineering departments, four connecting roads worth ₹4.9 crore through R&B department, reconstruction of Gangamma temple with ₹55 lakh from Endowments CGF fund.

Joint Collector Nidhi Meena, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke and TDP district leader C. Bhupesh Reddy were among those who formally called on the Chief Secretary.
