Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reviews Amaravati capital, emphasises on timelines and quality

Directing officials and construction agencies to adhere strictly to timelines and quality standards in the ongoing Amaravati capital city works, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a high-level review at his camp office at Undavalli in Guntur district on Saturday (April 04).  

The review meeting was attended by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana, senior officials of the A.P. Capital Region Development Authority and Amaravati Development Corporation, along with representatives of various construction firms executing projects in Amaravati.  

Officials informed that works worth ₹57,821 crore are currently underway in different phases across the capital region. These include housing, roads, trunk and LPS infrastructure, besides main structures such as the Assembly, High Court and Secretariat.  

The officials said the CRDA had resolved disputes linked to works that were stalled or cancelled during the previous YSR Congress Party government, and completed the tender processes despite challenges such as rising construction costs. At present, around 20,000 workers and experts are engaged in the ongoing works.  

Reviewing project-wise progress, the Chief Minister assessed how far each agency had met its targets. Detailed discussions were held on manpower deployment, machinery usage, and gaps between requirements and actual utilisation. Mr. Naidu directed agencies to set weekly and monthly targets to ensure timely completion, particularly for works scheduled ahead of the monsoon.  

He stressed that building the capital city should not be treated merely as a contract assignment but as a historic responsibility. “Constructing a capital city is a rare opportunity. Those involved in these works will become part of history,” he said, urging agencies to deliver innovative and world-class infrastructure. He called for maintaining high quality standards, adopting cost-effective measures, and leveraging green energy and advanced technologies.  

The Chief Minister also encouraged stakeholders to share innovative ideas that could enhance the prestige of the capital. Reiterating that there would be no compromise on deadlines, Mr. Naidu instructed agencies to increase manpower wherever necessary and ensure all projects are completed and inaugurated on schedule.
