Reacting seriously on the alleged rape attempt on a government employee at Macherla town in Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday (April 04) has directed police officials to expedite the arrest of the accused.

According to officials, an unidentified person allegedly trespassed into the residence of a woman working as an office subordinate in the Panchayat Raj department and attempted to sexually assault her on Friday. The incident has triggered concern, prompting immediate intervention from the Chief Minister.

Police authorities informed that a case was registered promptly upon receiving the complaint, and the victim was shifted to Guntur Government General Hospital for medical examination. Briefing the Chief Minister on the progress of the investigation, the police officials said that special teams have been constituted under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police to trace and apprehend the accused.

They added that a few suspects have already been taken into custody for questioning. Mr. Naidu instructed the police to ensure the accused is arrested at the earliest and dealt with strictly. He emphasised that stringent action must be taken in such cases to send a strong message that crimes against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
