Chennai’s reservoirs have begun receiving a steady inflow of Krishna water to boost summer preparedness, balance storage, and streamline drinking water supply. Krishna water from Kandaleru reservoir was released by Andhra Pradesh last week to augment the city’s drinking water supply during the summer months. The inflow reached the Poondi reservoir on February 25 where it is being stored and distributed to various parts of the city. This would maintain stable storage levels in the reservoirs while meeting rising summer demand, said officials of the Water Resources Department (WRD).
