Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy urged voters to support the ruling Congress in the municipal polls for development, accusing the Opposition BRS of pushing the State into a debt-ridden one during their decade-long rule. Addressing an election rally with Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka in Cherial town on Saturday, the Congress MP slammed former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for deceiving the Dalits by going back on his promise of making a Dalit the first Chief Minister of Telangana. He questioned where the promised water, funds, and jobs had gone, considering the State was created following the sacrifices of 1,300 martyrs. Mr. Chamala also renewed his criticism of the Kaleshwaram project, asserting that the massive irrigation scheme had turned into a crumbling project. He likened BRS MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy to a magician, alleging that he steals votes and manipulates outcomes. Mr. Chamala also targeted former Minister Harish Rao, alleging he diverted irrigation water to Siddipet at the expense of local farmers. Later, addressing a meeting of women at Ibrahimpatnam, the MP said that the ten years of Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule pushed what was once a surplus State into a debt-ridden one. Minister Seethakka and local MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy spoke at the meeting.
