HYDERABAD

Congress MP from Bhuvanagiri Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy strongly countered Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar for his comments that the country would face an ‘eclipse’ if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi became the Prime Minister.

Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said that such remarks reflect political frustration and insecurity rather than constructive politics.

The MP reminded that several leaders in the past had risen to power under unusual circumstances. “Narendra Modi himself came to Gujarat as a parachute leader and became the Chief Minister. Even without winning an election like Modi, many have assumed high office before,” he said, adding that even though senior leaders like Manmohan Singh preferred Rahul Gandhi for the Prime Minister’s post in 2009, Mr. Gandhi chose not to take up the position.

The MP also criticised Mr. Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that the duo had ruined the nation.

Turning to Telangana, he questioned why Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy never raised concerns about alleged large-scale corruption during the previous BRS government.

Responding to criticisms over the proposed Musi Rejuvenation project, he said the BJP lacked moral standing to oppose the project.

He claimed that the Congress supported the Sabarmati River project in Gujarat. “It was a Congress mayor who led the initiative. We supported the good work. Why are you stopping us now from developing Musi?” he questioned.
