Shivamogga district unit of Chalavadi Mahasabha has urged the State Government to address the discrepancies in fixing the roster for recruitment of posts, ensuring all the castes within the Scheduled Castes enjoy a fair share. B.D. Savakkanavar, a retired government official representing the Mahasabha, in a press conference in Shivamogga on Wednesday, said that if the roster system were fixed, considering each department in a university as a unit, the candidates from the castes that belong to category B (SC-Right) would lose opportunities to get selected. “Instead of considering a department as a unit, the roster should be fixed; treat the entire university as a unit,” he maintained. Further, he maintained that successive governments failed to resolve the issue of the internal reservation among the Scheduled Castes. The Justice H.N. Nagamohan Das’s commission, constituted by the State Government, left out certain castes that should have been included along with SC-Right communities. “There has been injustice to the SC-Right communities in the commission. We want the government to rectify the mistake,” he demanded. The Mahasabha appealed to the people belonging to the SC-Right communities to take part in the protest to be held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on March 25 in large numbers and urge the government to fulfil the demands of the communities. Mahasabha honorary president H. Siddappa, president Kumaraswamy, vice-president Lalithamma and general secretary D. Kantaraju were present at the press conference.
