Chain-snatcher caught by passersby – The Hindu

Alert passersby caught a chain-snatcher at Thatchanallur here on Thursday and the police are on the lookout to arrest his accomplice.

Police said two bike-laden men tried to snatch the gold chain of M. Shanthi, 55, of Thatchanallur New Colony when she was going on foot to the market on Thursday. She resisted the attempt and held on to the gold chain firmly and the bike riders fell on the ground.

While one of them managed to escape on the bike, his accomplice was nabbed by the public and handed over to the police. He was identified as Ramesh, 24, of Dindigul and efforts are on to nab his accomplice. Thatchanallur police have registered a case.
