The Salem City Police registered a case against two Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) cadre for distributing food here on Saturday (March 28, 2026). On Thursday (March 26, 2026), TVK cadre Sarath and Hari distributed food to the public near Bala Vinayagar Temple at Kitchipalayam. Based on the information, the election flying squad officials led by N. Anand went to the spot and instructed them to stop the distribution. Following the incident, Mr. Anand lodged a complaint with the Kitchipalayam police that the cadre distributed food without prior permission, violating the election model code of conduct. Based on the complaint, the Kitchipalayam police registered a case against the duo under Sections 173 of BNS and 123 of the Representation of the People Act, and are investigating further.
