Case against CPI(M) activists for attack on police officers

The Vellarada police on Monday registered a case against two CPI(M) activists, including the Vellarada local secretary, for allegedly assaulting a sub-inspector (SI) during a temple festival.

Three persons including CPI(M) Vellarada local secretary Pradeep have been accused of attacking the SI Abhijith K. and civil police officer Jaseem during a temple procession around 9 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the police, the group including the CPI(M) leader was dancing on the road when the procession reached a junction. While this created a traffic block, the team led by the SI directed the group to move aside to ease the congestion. This purportedly provoked the gang which assaulted the police officers.
