The front portion of a car was destroyed in a fire accident in Salem district on Saturday (February 7, 2026). On Saturday evening, two mechanics of a private car showroom took a car, which was dropped at the showroom by a customer for regular service, for a service run. While they reached Salem-Dharmapuri National Highway, smoke was emerging out of the car, and on noticing this, the duo exited the car. Within minutes, the fire spread to the car. On information, the Suramangalam fire and rescue service personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. But the front portion of the car was completely damaged. Due to the fire accident, traffic movement was affected on the highway for 20 minutes. The Suramangalam police are investigating further.
