So were a few candidates of Sattur Assembly constituency who rushed to a fireworks unit near Vembakottai after explosions caught their attention on Monday morning. An explosion on Excel Fireworks premises at Chatrapatti in Virudhunagar district claimed the life of M. Pandiarajan, 38. Two others, P. Rajkumar, 42, and S. Ramesh, 38, sustained 100% and 80% burns, respectively.
