The Kerala High Court has directed the Returning Officer of the Thripunithura Assembly constituency to decide on a representation by Anjali P.V., actor and Twenty20 candidate from the constituency, to change her name in electronic voting machines (EVMs) and postal ballots to Anjali Nair, by which she is popularly known, in compliance with the Conduct of Election Rules 1961. The candidate approached the court after her representations before the Returning Officer and the Chief Electoral Officer were reportedly not acted upon. A Bench of Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan disposed of the petition, directing the Returning Officer to conduct a hearing on April 4, after which necessary orders ought to be passed the very day.
