The Indian Veterinary Association (Kerala) declared its solidarity with forest veterinarians, who work in extremely risky conditions.

A female veterinarian was killed in Shimoga in Karnataka recently, and a Keralite veterinarian drowned in Gujarat. Professionals working in zoos and wildlife rescue centres also face risk to life, a statement issued by the organisation said.

The Association called for safety precautions and life insurance coverage for veterinarians working in the wildlife sector.
