YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy addressing a press conference at Tadepalli on Wednesday.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy says that the CAG reports tabled in the Legislative Assembly have exposed the NDA government’s financial indiscipline.

“The coalition government has borrowed a whopping ₹3.20 lakh crore in two years compared to ₹3.31 lakh crore mobilised by the YSRCP dispensation during its five-year term between 2019-24,” the former Chief Minister said while addressing a press conference at the party central office at Tadepalli on Wednesday.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said there was no clarity on where that money had gone as the Super Six promises were not implemented, while the State revenues fell, which “clearly indicates pilferage and rampant corruption.”

The government owed an explanation for the declining revenues and mounting fiscal deficit, he said, adding that the borrowings had imposed a huge burden in the form of interest payable.

He observed that the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly was used to spread lies, false propaganda and level baseless allegations against the political adversaries of the TDP, JSP and BJP, while sweeping genuine questions raised by the opposition party on issues of public interest under the carpet.

He said while the State’s financial position was alarming, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had been harping on the Tirupati ladduissue “in spite of all the accusing fingers pointing towards him (the Chief Minister).”

The government was running for cover as the YSRCP brought to light the Indapur–Heritage link to the alleged adulteration of ghee, by floating different versions at different times, he claimed.

The government increased the price of ghee from ₹351 to ₹761 per kg as part of a deliberate attempt to benefit Mr. Naidu’s coterie, the YSRCP chief alleged, dismissing all the allegations as baseless and motivated.

Boasting of women safety at the International Women’s Day meeting was a sham as there were heinous cases of atrocities against women by MLAs of the TDP and JSP, and even the TTD Chairman remained untouched despite the surfacing of some videos that featured him, he alleged.

‘No MSP for farmers’

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy went on to say that farmers were dying as the government failed to provide MSP for their crops and even stopped paying up crop insurance.

The TDP and its allies had at the time of the 2024 general elections promised to give to the people much more than what the YSRCP government delivered. But the questions submitted in the Assembly session went unanswered, he added.
