A Cabinet Sub-Committee met at the Secretariat on Wednesday to review plans for installation of the statue of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, and development of a Smriti Vanam (memorial park) in Amaravati. The committee met to deliberate upon various aspects of the proposed projects, including the design and location of the statue. Ministers P. Narayana (Municipal Administration and Urban Development), Payyavula Keshav (Finance), Anagani Satya Prasad (Revenue) and Kandula Durgesh (Tourism) attended the meeting. Senior officials present included Municipal Administration Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, CRDA Commissioner K. Kannababu and Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (AGICL) Managing Director Srinivas. During the meeting, the Ministers examined model designs of the proposed statue and related structures. The government is planning to install the statue atop a hill at Neerukonda village, located in the capital region of Amaravati. According to officials, the statue will be a large bronze structure weighing around 3,500 tonnes, making it one of the most prominent landmarks in the capital city. Along with the statue, the government intends to develop complementary designs and features as part of the memorial complex. A dedicated sub-committee has been constituted to finalise the statue design. The AGICL will oversee and monitor the execution of the statue’s installation. The project is aimed at creating a significant cultural and memorial landmark in the capital, reflecting the legacy of NTR, while enhancing Amaravati’s urban and tourism landscape.
