The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) police arrested a 42-year-old cab driver for harassing a woman passenger at the terminal and demanding more money.

According to the report filed by Narayana Swamy T.H., Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to the KIA station, at around 8.06 a.m. on February 21, a distress call was received via the 112 control room from a woman identified as Ms. Priyanshi. She had booked a cab through an app and arrived near Terminal 2 of the airport. Upon completion of the trip, the app reflected a fare of ₹982. However, the cab driver, identified as Nagesh, allegedly demanded ₹1,448 instead.

When the complainant objected to paying the excess amount and insisted on paying only the fare displayed on the app, the driver allegedly refused to hand over her luggage until the money was paid. The woman further alleged that the driver used abusive language, threatened her, and attempted to intimidate her.

Upon receiving the complaint, police personnel reached the spot and confronted Nagesh. He allegedly abused the ASI and the police department and created a ruckus. The police arrested Nagesh, seized the cab and charged him with assault and criminal intimidation. He was also charged with assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant to deter them from discharging their duty. He was further remanded to judicial custody.
