Puthiya Tamilagam founder-president K. Krishnasamy declared that the Devendrakula Vellalar community must stand united and fight collectively to become the determining factor in the upcoming Assembly elections.

He appealed to the community to consolidate their strength not merely as a caste, but as a unified political force capable of changing the fate of the State, while addressing at the 7th State conference of the party in the presence of party leader Shyam Krishnasamy in Madurai on Wednesday.

He urged members to abandon scattered organisations and instead gather under a single political umbrella.

Addressing the party’s strategy, Mr. Krishnasamy noted that they have consistently refused to contest under the symbols of alliance parties in order to maintain a distinct political identity.

He asserted that Puthiya Tamilagam is the only party truly dedicated to the Devendra Kulla Vellalar community, claiming that major parties like the DMK and AIADMK would not support them during times of hardship or conflict.

He criticised these parties for espousing “false social justice” and labelled them as caste-based forces operating against the community’s interests.

‘Power sharing’

Emphasising that power-sharing is their primary motive, he suggested that securing a single ministerial position would do more to improve the community’s livelihood than winning ten MLA seats.

He alleged that the DMK, fearing a loss of influence in key constituencies, has actively tried to undermine his popularity. However, Mr. Krishnasamy maintained that by showcasing their strength, the party could secure at least 10 to 15 seats in the upcoming elections.

He attributed the community’s historical progress to their unity and concluded by advising the youth to avoid alcohol, criticising the government for profiting from a business that disorients and harms its citizens.

Though the community members might be working with various political parties, the true victory could be achieved by uniting as a community, he advised.

“To avoid such circumstances, we are to launch a Global Devendra Kula Vellalar Coordination Centre in Madurai to bring all the community members residing in various villages under a single umbrella,” he said.
