Brass idol of Perumal, puja items recovered

A metal idol of Perumal and a couple of puja items including a bell were recovered while digging the foundation for the construction of a house at Melamathur revenue village in Alathur taluk in the district on Sunday. 

Official sources said a pit was being dug for raising pillars when a brass idol of Perumal measuring about two-foot height, a bell, and another puja item were recovered at a depth of about five foot.
