The sudden closure of a pawn shop at Mullankinaavilai near here has left the borrowers, who have reportedly pledged over ₹6 crore-worth gold ornaments to get loans, in the lurch. The alleged closure came to light when a few borrowers, who had repaid their loans with interest, went to the pawn shop at Mullankinaavilai on Friday to get back their gold ornaments they had pledged to raise the loans. As the shop remain closed, the borrowers tried to reach the pawn shop owners over the phone, but in vain.
