The Bombay High Court on Friday (March 29, 2026) suggested that the warring Kalyani siblings consider mediation to settle their long-standing disputes.

The siblings Baba Kalyani, Sugandha Hiremath and Gaurishankar Kalyani, and their children have been fighting legal battles on multiple fronts for several years now. At stake, is ancestral wealth estimated to be over ₹1 lakh crore.

The suggestion came during consideration of an interim application in a suit brought by Sughanda Hiremath seeking enforcement of a 1994 family agreement.

The application challenges the maintainability of her suit. Justice Rajesh Patil, hearing the matter, proposed that the parties explore mediation to resolve this and other pending intra‑family claims.

Counsel from the side of Kalyani brothers gave guarded responses saying they would seek instructions from the clients.

Counsel Kunal Dwarkadas, instructed by RJD & Partners for Sughanda Hiremath, said the claimant was willing to attempt mediation despite a prior attempt having been made and which had failed.

With those responses, Justice Patil listed the matter for April 15, 2026, for the Kalyani brothers to indicate whether they will affirm the appointment of a mediator to attempt settlement of the family disputes spanning two decades.
