The body of a construction worker who was allegedly killed by his parents was exhumed for post-mortem here on Saturday (April 4, 2026). The deceased, C. Manikandan (30), a resident of Karadipatti near Belur, was a construction worker. As he was addicted to alcohol, his wife, Vinothini (28), separated from Manikandan and was staying at her parents’ house. Earlier, Manikandan used to call her regularly, but she did not receive calls since March 8. As she was suspicious, she lodged a complaint with the Vazhapadi police. The police inquired and found that Manikandan, in an inebriated state, quarrelled with his parents, who allegedly attacked him. In the attack, Manikandan died and his body was buried in the arecanut grove.
