Alleging that the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), managed by the Administrator who is also the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, is not responding to people’s woes, the BJP held a protest on Wednesday and urged the State government to conduct elections to the civic body’s council at the earliest.

Party leaders who spoke at the protest, in front of the civic body’s head office at Lalbagh, alleged that the administration of the civic body was riddled with mismanagement and corruption had crossed its limit.

The five-year term of the elected council, led by the BJP, of the civic body ended on February 27, 2025.
