The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (April 8, 2026) sought a campaign ban and legal action against Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

A BJP delegation, comprising Union Ministers Virendra Kumar and Arjun Ram Meghwal, along with party leaders Arun Singh and Om Pathak, submitted two complaints to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
